❓ A WA parliamentary question reveals no increase in government funding for women's refuges in 2009-10 compared to 2008-09, despite rising utility costs and potential wage increases. The Minister states that existing indexation policies should cover wage increases and that additional resources will be available through a National Partnership Agreement in July 2010.

WOMEN’S REFUGES — FUNDING
I refer to the most recent round of funding contracts with service providers of women’s refuges. (1) Has there been any increase in government funding for women’s refuges for the 2009-10 financial year from the 2008-09 financial year? (2) If yes, by what overall percentage is this increase? (3) If no, will the minister be reviewing refuge funding contracts in light of the recent significant increases in electricity and other utility costs to ensure that there will be no decrease in refuge service delivery? (4) Will the minister review the government’s funding for women’s refuges to take into account potential increases in staff wages and to ensure there will be no decrease in service delivery due to increased costs? These additional resources are currently being examined in partnership with the sector for implementation in July 2010. (2) Not applicable. (3) No. (4) No. The whole of state government indexation policy for the non-government human services sector already incorporates an indexation formula that recognises that the main cost drivers for services are wages and salaries.
