Responded by
Minister for Police and Emergency Services
Response time
107 days
(1) Leased operational police vehicles are generally replaced at 60,000 km, however, some specific leased vehicles are replaced at 40,000 km for operational and/or fiscal reasons. Patrol motorcycles are replaced at 70,000 km; and mid?commercial and heavy-commercial vehicles are replaced as required, based on vehicle condition, function and corporate priorities.
High service levels for police vehicles are maintained regardless of the kilometres travelled. Vehicles are serviced as per the manufacturer's warranty. Additionally, any police vehicle involved in a police pursuit is returned to an authorised dealer for a comprehensive check irrespective of when the last service was carried out.
(2) The acquisition, maintenance, disposal and replacement of all Western Australia Police fleet vehicles is conducted in accordance with the WA Government Fleet Policy & Guidelines and the Government's centralised arrangements for the acquisition, financing, management and disposal of vehicles.
