On 7 May 2012 the Department of the Premier and Cabinet issued Request Documents under a competitive tender to upgrade media monitoring equipment which would provide the potential to wider media monitoring services across public sector agencies.
For a number of reasons owing to the caretaker period relating to the general election, the temporary procurement restrictions late in the 2012-2013 financial year and the subsequent tight fiscal position of the State's finances, a decision was taken not to award the contract to upgrade equipment.
The Department is currently assessing a number of strategies to address the aging equipment to support the continued timely delivery of maintaining service to existing clients.
