The Department of Justice advises:
(a) Cognitive behavioural programs targeting substance abuse, violent offending and general offending behaviour include:
· Not Our Way (NOW)
· NOW is a moderate intensity criminogenic program for Aboriginal male offenders with an FDV index offence or identified FDV needs.
· Pathways Program (Pathways)
· Pathways is a high intensity criminogenic program for male and female offenders with a history of alcohol and other drugs abuse that is inter-related with offending behaviour.
Greenough Regional Prison also deliver an extensive suite of outreach and reintegration initiatives in close collaboration with community-linked partners.
(b) The NOW program is delivered by a not-for-profit organisation under a service contract spanning the Kimberley, Pilbara, Mid-West and Goldfields regions with a total value of approximately $3.149 million for the 2025-26 financial year.
The Pathways program is delivered internally as part of the Department’s suite of offender programs across multiple sites. As a result, the associated funding cannot be disaggregated for reporting purposes.
(c) The frequency and location of program delivery is based on prisoner risks/needs, demand and available resources.
(d) Funding is allocated via the State budget process.
(e) Cognitive behavioural programs are delivered by two staff members in a co-facilitation model.
(f) There is one Transitional Manager.
(g) Transitional Managers engage with prisoners six months prior to release to provide individualised support, assist with preparing for return to the community, and assessment of reintegration needs to enable referrals to the relevant contracted Reintegration Service Providers. Prisoner engagement with transitional services is voluntary.
