Hon. Stephen Dawson questions the Minister for Disability Services regarding the impact of public housing rent calculation changes on people with disabilities. The Minister admits the Disability Services Commission doesn't track relevant income data and therefore cannot quantify the impact, and that she was informed via budget papers and has not raised concerns with the Housing Minister.

PUBLIC HOUSING — RENT CALCULATION
170. Hon STEPHEN DAWSON to the Minister
for Disability Services:
I refer to the public housing rent
calculations changes in 2016.
(1) How many people with
disabilities will be affected by the changes?
(2) When did the Minister for
Disability Services become aware of the changes?
(3) Has the
minister raised concerns with the Minister for Housing on the impact the
changes will have on Western Australians living with disability?

I thank the member for some notice
of the question, which was also asked on 16 February.
Hon Stephen Dawson : I hope you have the answer for that
one. You cannot have any excuse today, can you?
Hon HELEN MORTON : Yes.
(1) Information
about the income of people with disability is not held by the Disability
Services Commission . Hence, the number of people with disability in
receipt of a disability support pension and commonwealth allowances who will be
affected by the changes is not known to the Disability Services Commission.
(2) The Minister for Housing
provided the information in the budget papers in 2015.
(3) No.
