minister representing the Minister for Seniors and Volunteering:
I refer to the seniors safety and security rebate.
(1) For each
calendar month from 1 January 2013 to date, how many applications for home
security items category were received and approved?
(2) For each
calendar month from 1 January 2013 to date, how many applications for personal
safety devices were received and approved?
(3) Will the
Minister for Seniors and Volunteering table the advice on this scheme that he
received from the Seniors Ministerial Advisory Council?
(4) If no to (3), why not?

(1) In January
2013, 471 were received and 442 were approved; in February 2013, 724 were
received and 651 were approved; in March 2013, 1 204 were received and 1 101
were approved; in April 2013, 393 were received and 352 were approved; in May
2013, 372 were received and 332 were approved; in June 2013, 299 were received
and 273 were approved; in July 2013, 329 were received and 306 were approved;
in August 2013, 316 were received and 302 were approved; in September 2013, 668
were received and 604 were approved; in October 2013, 337 were received and 311
were approved; in November 2013, 195 were received and 183 were approved; in
December 2013, 310 were received and 300 were approved; and in January 2014,
148 were received and 129 were approved.
(2) Remember
that this personal safety devices program only came into effect from January
2014. In January 2014, 208 were received and 190 were approved; in February
2014, 349 were received and 319 were approved; in March 2014, 431 were received
and 423 were approved; and in April 2014, 187 were received and 169 were
approved.
(3) No, it will not be tabled.
(4) The Seniors
Ministerial Advisory Council's role is to provide advice to the
Minister for Seniors and Volunteering. The advice provided to the minister is
considered alongside advice from a range of stakeholders.
