1213. Hon Dr STEVE THOMAS to the minister representing the

directed, on what date, and for what specific purpose or rationale?
(4) As at 9 October
2023, how much fiscal drawdown has occurred on the total sum of government
grants to the receivers or liquidators as managers of the insolvent Griffin

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1)–(3) An
additional $3.2 million was drawn down by the receivers and managers on 22 September
2023 to fund costs essential for the ongoing operation of the mine, including
labour, fuel, and maintenance that were not covered by revenue generated. The
Department of the Premier and the Cabinet disbursed the amount following KPMG's
analysis of the shortfall.
(4)–(5) An
amount of $30.5 million has been drawn down to date by the receivers and managers
of Griffin Coal. This is composed of $7.3 million in March 2023, $9.7 million
in May 2023, $6.2 million in June 2023, $4.1 million in August 2023, and $3.2 million
in September 2023 in order to support continued mining operations and ensure
energy system security.
