STATE
ECONOMY — PREMIER'S COMMENTS
51. Mr M. McGOWAN to the Premier:
I have a supplementary question. Is
it not grossly irresponsible for the Premier of Western Australia to tell a business
breakfast of 470 business people that the state is broke? If the Premier were a
CEO of a company and he sent it broke, would he not then resign? So, what
punishment is the Premier considering for himself?

As I said —
Mr
M. McGowan : You think it's a joke.
Mr
C.J. BARNETT : I am not laughing.
If opposition members had been there—they
should come along to hear me speak at breakfasts—they would have known
that it was a lighthearted comment to some very friendly, good, incisive
questions that were being asked. You cannot be so deadly serious, so deadly
tedious and so deadly boring as the Leader of the Opposition is!
