ANIMAL ACTIVISM —
LEGISLATION
994. Mr P.J. RUNDLE to the Attorney General:
I have a supplementary question.
This seems to be a recurring theme every time I ask this question. Given that
only a couple of sitting weeks of Parliament remain this year, how does the
Attorney General intend to honour his commitment and protect the agricultural
sector over the coming months so that it is not left wide open to attack and
intrusion from animal activists?
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER : Members on my
right, the minister is on his feet.

As
I said, we will put it up to draft 9H of the bill. There are quite a lot of drafts,
tricking it up to make sure that we have the balance right so that the
member's constituents and the public interest are protected. We will
get the balance right. That has taken me a few months longer than what I initially
anticipated but leaves us about seven years and four months in front of the
former government.
