Treasurer:
I refer to the
Insurance Legislation Amendment (Motor Vehicle Claims Harvesting) Bill 2023.
(1) Can the
Treasurer provide evidence in support of the Insurance Commission of Western Australia's
claim during budget estimates hearings that 27 per cent of motor vehicle claims
have been affected by the practice of claims harvesting?
(2) Will the
Treasurer identify those law firms that ICWA suspects or knows to be
participating in claims harvesting?

some notice of the question. I provide the following answer on behalf of the
Minister for Emergency Services.
(1)–(2) The
figure of 27 per cent is an actuarial estimate based on claims received by the
Insurance Commission of Western Australia in 2022–23.
