I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The following response has been provided by the
Minister for Housing.
The Department of Communities
delivers a large volume of works for social housing through Tenders WA that
includes new builds, maintenance, refurbishments and other works. The
extraction of information specific for Geraldton would require a significant
use of government resources and Communities advises that it is not able to
provide the information in the time available. Communities currently has three
builders panels in place that are listed on
Tenders WA: a statewide prefabricated panel, which appointed eight building
companies to construct the first tranche of Communities' modular
build program; a statewide modular builder panel, which has appointed six
building companies to design and construct modular residential housing
throughout the state, including homes in regional areas; and a statewide
builders panel, which has pre-approved 85 small, medium and large building
companies to deliver social housing and further accelerate social housing
delivery. The statewide builders panels streamline procurement for social
housing projects and pre-qualify companies to deliver the pipeline of state government works. Builders appointed to the panels
are shortlisted for works depending on their capability, capacity , location and type of works being delivered. This
is part of the state's plans to have a pipeline of housing construction work across a range of locations, build methods and types of dwellings on a site.
