We made an election
commitment not to increase the gold royalty and we are not going to. The member
did not have to stand up and deliver a supplementary question, but she cannot
think on her feet. It was written down so she had to stand up and read it.

Ms Rita Saffioti: I mean, honestly!

Ms Rita Saffioti: "If it's written down, I must
stand up and read it."

The Speaker: Member for Cottesloe!
Ms Rita Saffioti: "I must stand up and read it
because it's written down." Honestly, her performance today was a
disgrace. Her policies are a disgrace. What does she stand for?
The shadow Minister
for Housing and the Leader of the Opposition claim that the current problem is
demand. That is what they said. There is not enough demand out there. I mean,
who believes that we have a problem with housing demand in this nation? It is
housing supply.
Ms Sandra Brewer interjected.
The Speaker: Member for Cottesloe!
Ms Rita Saffioti: The Liberal Party and the National
Party are spending their time in the upper house wanting to put more red tape on
housing. They want to go into people's properties and tell people what they
should do in their properties. They want to interfere in the property rights of
Western Australians—to go in their backyards and say, "You can't do
this; you can't do that." They want to unwind planning reform. They are
standing in the way of housing developments. They are politicising housing
developments around this state. That is what they are doing, so do not stand up
and try to talk about tax policy when you are an embarrassment not only to this
chamber but to the state.
