METRONET — RAIL PROJECTS
876. Mrs L.M. HARVEY to the Minister for Transport:
I have a supplementary question. To
bring the minister back to the question, will she categorically rule out that
there will be any compulsory acquisitions as part of the Metronet projects for
Thornlie–Cockburn and Yanchep; and,
if there are some, can she please explain what value she has allocated from
projects towards those acquisitions?

As I recall, there is no compulsory
acquisition. I will get back to the member to see whether I am correct on that,
but, as I understand it, there is no compulsory acquisition.
Mr W.J. Johnston interjected.
Ms R. SAFFIOTI : That is
unlike what the former government did in Forrestfield in relation to many of
the residences there, and Roe 8; we can go through it.
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER : Members!
Ms R. SAFFIOTI : The
opposition does not support Metronet, it does not support the Thornlie–Cockburn
line and it does not support the Yanchep line. We support Metronet and we are
very proud of delivering rail projects. Of course, the only rail project the
former government did—the Butler extension—it stuffed up
anyway, and we are very keen that we are implementing Metronet to provide world-class
rail services to the community.
