I am advised that the Inspector of Custodial Services provides comment on security matters as a routine aspect of his reports on the inspection of prisons. (b) All staff have a responsibility to report any issues of concern including security in the course of performing their daily duties. Comprehensive processes are in place in the juvenile detention facilities for staff to raise such matters and to have them addressed through these processes. The Inspector of Custodial Services currently has no jurisdiction over juvenile detention facilities. (2) (a)–(d) With regard to prisons, concerns expressed by staff vary from specific incidents relating to individual offenders, to observations about systemic security issues relevant to the prison as a whole. They may be expressed on a daily basis and are addressed at either a unit level or senior administrative level as the case requires. With regard to the Inspector of Custodial Services, I advise that the reports tabled in Parliament in the last year, including those for Nyandi, Eastern Goldfields, Casuarina (2) and Broome and Hakea Prisons, are a matter of public record and readily available. The reports for inspections conducted at Roebourne, Bandyup, Wooroloo, Albany, and Bunbury prisons are yet to be tabled in Parliament. With regard to Juvenile detention centres, please refer to the answer provided at (1) (b) (3) Please refer to answers provided at (1) and (2) above.
