KALAMUNDA DISTRICT COMMUNITY HOSPITAL, REDEVELOPMENT
I refer to an election brochure that was distributed in the Darling Range electorate during the election campaign. Under the heading “Hospitals”, it states clearly that - In addition $5.5 million - The SPEAKER: It is difficult enough to hear many of the answers without having to strain to hear the questions. Therefore, will members on the Government’s side of the House please listen to the question. Mr DAY: The brochure states clearly that - In addition $5.5 million will be spent on the redevelopment of Kalamunda Hospital. I refer to the minister’s claim earlier in question time that that is not an endorsed Labor commitment. I also refer to the fact that this brochure is authorised by one Nick Griffiths - now, I believe, a minister in the Labor Government; it was printed by the Australian Labor Party of 82 Beaufort Street, Perth; and it bears the signature of one Geoff Gallop, now the Labor Premier of Western Australia. I ask the minister: what exactly is an endorsed Labor commitment and did he not mislead the House earlier today? Mr KUCERA

I repeat that it is not an endorsed election promise. All endorsed election promises are fully costed. The Opposition has been particularly vocal about the costing of election promises. The document referred to by the member for Darling Range is not an endorsed election commitment. As I trawl through the promises made on health and hospitals throughout this State, I might point to the member for Stirling, and the great promises he made about the Denmark hospital, which is an area of need. It is not an endorsed election commitment.
