Ms Rita Saffioti replied:(1)–(2) I thank the member for that
question. On this side of Parliament, our government has a very clear plan for the
future energy security of this state. That is, of course, closing down coal-fired
power stations and having gas as a clear transition fuel in upcoming years.
That is our clear plan. We are delivering affordable, accessible power
throughout the state. Our policy has meant that we have not had the price
shocks of other states, in particular those on the eastern seaboard. We have a
clear policy. Of course, we should remember that it was the Liberal Party that
proposed to have nuclear power plants everywhere, members. It was not a
believable, sustainable or affordable solution for this state. We have a clear
plan.As I said today at a press
conference, I do not support the member for Bassendean's comments. In relation
to the future of this state, as I said, we have a very clear plan that supports
wind and solar energy, significant funding in our distribution and transmission
lines, and also gas as a clear transition fuel.
