ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AUTHORITY — OFFICER VISIT TO SOUTH AUSTRALIA
I refer to the “Environmental Protection Authority and Office of the Environmental Protection Authority Western Australia Annual Report 2009–2010”, and specifically the note — An officer of the OEPA has visited South Australia to gain a practical first hand understanding of uranium operations, regulation of the industry in relation to environmental protection and transport and Federal requirements associated with uranium mining and export. (1) When did this officer visit South Australia? (2) Which places in South Australia did this officer visit, and with which persons did this officer meet? (3) Was a report compiled; and, if so, will the minister table it? (4) If no to (3), why not? Hon DONNA FARAGHER

(2) I am advised that the acting general manager of the Office of the Environmental Protection Authority approved an officer to visit Adelaide to meet with the South Australian Environmental Protection Authority, Department of Primary Industries and Resources of South Australia, Department of the Premier and Cabinet of South Australia, Olympic Dam Task Force, BHP Billiton, and South Australia Police. The visit included a visit to Roxby Downs to inspect the Olympic Dam mine site with BHP Billiton. (3)–(4) A written report was not prepared, but detailed briefings were provided to the Western Australian Environmental Protection Authority chairman and the acting general manager of the Office of the Environmental Protection Authority.
