South West Interconnected System—Peak demand
1280. Hon Dr Steve Thomas to the Leader of the House
representing the Minister for Energy and Decarbonisation:
I refer to the
minister's answer to my question without notice C1438 answered on 9 December
2025 in which the government, in an answer to whether Synergy is looking for
any new wind or solar offtake agreements in the next five years, said:
Synergy is reviewing responses to an
expression of interest process.
(1) To which expression of interest was the
minister referring?
(2) Can the minister please table the expression
of interest documents, including the application form?
(3) Are there any other wind or solar renewable
energy expressions of interest currently open or being reviewed by Synergy or
the government?
(4) What is the total capacity in megawatts of all
Synergy proposed offtake agreements from 2025–26 to 2029–30?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question. I answer on behalf of the
Leader of the House. The following response has been provided by the Minister
for Energy and Decarbonisation.
(1)–(4) Synergy released an EOI for the
period 2026–2032 in July 2025. A supplementary EOI for longer term
supply was released in August 2025. Participants were invited to register their
interest via Tenders WA. Synergy is reviewing responses to both EOIs, with
these discussions commercial-in-confidence.
