General representing the Minister for Police:
I refer to the Security and Related
Activities (Control) Act 1996.
(1) Are there any plans to undertake
a review into the legislation; and, if yes, when?
(2) If no to (1), why not?
(3) How many
disciplinary proceedings or actions have taken place against licensees for the
period 1 July 2015 to 30 June 2016, and what was the outcome of those
proceedings?

On behalf of the Minister for
Police, I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1) In January
2016 the minister approved Western Australia Police to conduct a review of
administrative and operational matters contained in the Security and Related
Activities (Control) Act 1996. The matters referred to WA Police were
administrative duties, delegations, the introduction of infringements and
training. Amendments to the Security and Related Activities (Control)
Regulations 2016 have been approved by the Governor and were published in the Government Gazette on 29 July 2016 (WA Police administrative matters) and 9 August
2016 (infringement enforcement). Potential amendments to the Security and
Related Activities (Control) Act and further amendments to the regulations are
currently being considered.
(2) Not applicable.
(3) The
information requested cannot be provided in the time available. It will be
provided to the member on Wednesday, 14 September 2016.
