CORAL BAY — OVERNIGHT VISITOR NUMBERS
361. Hon ROBIN CHAPPLE to the minister representing the
Minister for Environment:
(1) What is the current limit on
overnight visitor numbers at Coral Bay?
(2) Are there any proposals under
consideration to vary this number?
(3) If yes to (2), what is the
proposed number?
(4) If yes to
(2), what effect will the new number have on the environment of Coral Bay and
the Ningaloo coast?

I thank the member for some notice of the question.
(1) The ''Ningaloo
coast regional strategy Carnarvon to Exmouth: August 2004'' stipulates
that the accommodation in Coral Bay is capped to cater for the ordinary peak of
4 500 people, including 3 600 overnight visitors.
(2)–(4) This
matter is being considered by the Shire of Carnarvon through the Coral Bay
settlement structure plan review, which I understand is about to be released
for public comment.
