Hon. Tjorn Sibma asks about the cost incurred by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) regarding the abandoned prosecution of Jacob Anthonisz. The Attorney General's response indicates that attributing specific costs to Anthonisz alone is not possible due to the multi-accused nature of the case.

DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC
PROSECUTIONS — JACOB ANTHONISZ
443. Hon TJORN SIBMA to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Attorney General:
I refer to the recent decision to
drop 542 charges against Mr Jacob Anthonisz. How much has been spent to date by
the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions on the abandoned prosecution?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the member for some notice
of the question. The following information has been provided to me by the
Attorney General.
The prosecution case against Mr
Jacob Daniel Anthonisz involved multiple accused, including, but not limited
to, the principal offender, Mr Paul Whyte,
and Mr Andrew Mitchell, and related to charges arising from the WA Police Force investigation named Operation Tangmere. It is not possible to accurately
attribute the cost and/or time spent by Office of the Director of Public
Prosecutions staff for Mr Anthonisz alone.
