(1) How many apprentices are currently employed?
(2) How many trainees are currently employed?
(3) Are there currently any plans to increase the number of apprenticeships and traineeships immediately?
(4) If yes to (3), what are the proposed increases?
(5) What funds have been allocated in 2009-10 to recruit more participants for apprenticeships and traineeships?
(6) If no funds have been allocated, why not?

(6) The Department of Commerce does not employ apprentices, but trainees could be engaged on a case by case basis.

(3-6) WorkCover WA will continue to maintain its existing arrangement of engaging two trainees each financial year at a cost of $40 000 per annum.
