I refer the Leader of the House to his answers to yesterday’s questions without notice Nos 145 and 146, which were answers given to the Leader of the Opposition on the amendment of Standing Order No 230.  The Leader of the House plainly indicated that the question of Standing Order No 230(ca) had been subject to cabinet consideration, whereas his answer today plainly indicates that it has not.  Did the Leader of the House intend to mislead the House in the belief that it was subject to cabinet deliberation? Hon KIM CHANCE

Hon Peter Foss needs to carefully re-read the question. Hon Peter Foss:  No, you’re the one who needs to re-read it. The PRESIDENT:  Order! Hon KIM CHANCE:  I do not have yesterday’s Hansard before me to reveal the precise nature of questions without notice Nos 145 and 146.  However, if the member feels that the answers I gave to those questions indicated that cabinet dealt with this matter, the former minister has clearly misunderstood me. Hon Peter Foss:  So it wasn’t dealt with by cabinet? Hon KIM CHANCE:  I did not say that.
