parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Transport:
(1) Does Main Roads WA have a policy on roadside food
vending?
(2) If no to (1), will Main Roads be developing a policy and
when will it be available?
(3) If yes to (1), will the minister table a copy of the
policy?

On behalf of the parliamentary secretary representing the
Minister for Transport, I thank the member for some notice of this question.
(1) No. Main
Roads does not have the power to allow such commercial activity on its road
reserves under the current Main Roads Act 1930.
(2) Yes. The
agency is reviewing amendments to the Main Roads Act to allow consideration of
these types of services to operate with the necessary rules and processes to
ensure public safety. It is intended to submit these amendments to government
for its consideration later this year.
(3) Not
applicable.
