(a) to (c) The total value of foster carer subsidies and allowances paid by the Department to departmental carers for the following years were:
2014 - 2015 – $47.984 million
2013 - 2014 – $43.631 million
2012 - 2013 – $38.944 million.
Foster carers approved by the Department for Child Protection and Family Support receive a carer subsidy, together with allowances for children’s clothing and pocket money. The value of these payments varies according to the age of the child. Foster carers approved by community sector organisations receive subsidies and allowances set by the individual organisation and these may vary between organisations.
