representing the Minister for Health:
I refer to my question on notice
2860 answered on 13 May 2020, which indicated that the Albany radiation
oncology service unit would be completed by June 2022, and my question without
notice 475, which was answered on 19 May 2022 and stated that the unit would be
scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2022 and was planned for
operational use in the fourth quarter of 2022.
(1) What date is the radiation
oncology unit due for completion?
(2) What date is the radiation
oncology unit scheduled to commence operation?
(3) What clarity
and certainty around these dates will the minister provide to cancer patients
in the great southern who must travel for four hours by road to either Bunbury
or Perth for treatment?

(1)–(3) The construction of the Albany radiation oncology
unit reached a key milestone this week, with specialist cancer
treatment equipment now installed. Practical completion is on track for this
quarter, with commissioning to follow.
