1114. Hon COLIN de GRUSSA to the minister representing the
Minister for Transport:
I refer to the announcement on 15 August
2023 of the awarding of exclusive rights to operate air services on select
regulated regional Western Australian routes.
(1) What type of
aircraft will be utilised on the following regulated routes —
(a) Perth to
Albany, Esperance, Carnarvon and Monkey Mia; and
(b) Perth to Mt
Magnet, Meekatharra, Wiluna, Laverton and Leonora?
(2) Has approval
been obtained from each airport owner for the respective aircraft proposed to
be used?
(3) If no to (2),
can the minister please list those for which approval has not been obtained?
(4) If no to (2), was approval a condition
of the tender process; and, if not, why not?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) (a) The
routes from Perth to Albany, Esperance and Carnarvon will utilise Saab 340B,
Saab 340B Plus, Saab 340B Plus WT and De Havilland Dash 8–402. The
route from Perth to Monkey Mia will utilise Saab 340B, Saab 340B Plus and Saab
340B Plus WT.
(b) Those routes
will utilise De Havilland Dash 8–100 and De Havilland Dash 8–300.
(2)–(4) The
airlines are responsible for engaging with, and seeking approval from, the
relevant airport owner.
