FINANCIAL
COUNSELLING SERVICES — FUNDING
771. Hon SAMANTHA ROWE to the
Minister for Child Protection:
Madam Deputy President —
Several members interjected.
The DEPUTY PRESIDENT : Order, members! Hon Samantha Rowe has the
call.
Hon SAMANTHA ROWE : Thank you, Madam Deputy President.
I refer to the minister's answer to question without
notice 746 and the minister's assertion that funding through the
Department of Local Government and Communities for metropolitan financial
counselling services after September 2015 will likely be determined by tender.
(1) Does the
minister intend that the tender process will be complete by October 2015 so
that services that are successful in securing funding will not suffer
interruptions to their service?
(2) If no to
(1), does the minister accept that services that are successful in securing
funding may lose skilled and experienced staff in the period between October
2015 and such time as funding is restored?

I thank the member for some notice of the question.
(1)–(2)
The Department of Local Government and Communities and the Department of the
Premier and Cabinet are currently working with the community services sector to
design a new financial advice and support model to assist individuals and
families in the metropolitan area. The time line for the tender process is
still to be determined by government.
The DEPUTY PRESIDENT : I give the call to Hon Dave Grills. Did
Hon Dave Grills ask for a question earlier?
Hon Dave Grills : No. I have been sitting here diligently.
The DEPUTY PRESIDENT : I give the call to Hon Simon O'Brien.
