I refer to my letter dated November 3 2003, addressed to the Hon Clive Brown MLA, Minister for State Development titled ‘Cooke Review’, and the Government’s response to the Final Report of the Cooke Review tabled in Parliament on the August 24 2004 -
(1) Given that I stated ‘I believe that both of us expected that Mr Cooke would investigate and document all of these matters of incorrect and misleading information so that all persons involved can move on following the review. Obviously because of time constraints he has not be able to do this and it clearly defeats the whole purpose of the exercise. I wish to point out that a number of answers to Parliamentary questions have asked me to refer the matters raised in the Cooke Review. Clearly the Cooke Review is not dealing with these matters, and again we have not moved forward. If the Cooke Review is constrained by its reporting time or funding, nothing will have been gained and the outcome will have been a total waste of time and resources. None of the issues involving the participants that I regard as being extremely important will be brought to any finality or conclusion.’, can the Minister explain and justify how the Cooke Review has not been a total waste of everybody’s time, resources, given that evidence and many issues not even mentioned in the report have not even been investigated and documented?
(2) If no to (1), why not?
(3) Can the Minister explain how the Government can claim to be open, honest and accountable when numerous Parliamentary questions still have not been given clear, concise, relevant and free from argument answers?
(4) If no to (3), why not?
(5) Will the Minister table a copy of my letter dated November 3 2003?
(6) If no to (5), why not?
