Prescribed burning—Wilmott–Quindinillup
875. Hon Jess Beckerling to the Minister for the
Environment:
I refer to
correspondence sent to the minister on 13 October 2025 from a group of Noongar elders
in Denmark, down on Menang Boodja, expressing concerns about prescribed burn
FRK 112, Wilmott–Quindinillup.
(1) Has the minister seen this correspondence?
(2) Will the minister suspend all prescribed burn
operations in the area until he has met with the elders who authored the
letter?
(3) Can the minister please table all cultural
surveys conducted in the area?

I thank the member
for some notice of the question.
(1) Yes. I received the correspondence on 13
October 2025, and I will respond in due course.
(2)–(3) Prescribed burning is the state's
primary means of reducing the level of combustible fuel and the risk of
bushfire to our community and the environment. I am advised by DBCA that Wagyl
Kaip Southern Noongar Aboriginal Corporation was provided with a copy of the
Warren Region's Burn Options Program in August 2025, which included FRK 112.
