has fallen from 2,808,556 items in 2016-17 to 2,672,002 in 2017-18, and ask: (a) what
was the value of the reduction in stock items; (b) what
happened to the cut stock; (c) will
the cut stock be replaced in future years; (d) how
many items amongst the cut stock are irreplaceable; and (e) what is the total value of stock on hand?

(a) This information is reported in the State Library Annual Report.
(b) Discarded public library stock is disposed of by an Australian Disability Enterprise as per the State Supply Commission’s Open and Effective Competition policy.
(c) New public library stock is purchased each year. The State Government is providing $8.524 million capital funding for the purchase of physical public library collections materials in 2018-19 such as print books and audiobooks on compact discs and $1.03 million recurrent funding for the licencing of online resources such as e-books and e-audiobooks.
(d) Nil
