I remind the Premier of his answer to my question yesterday, in which he said that he would rely on the goodwill and discretion of his ministers to implement his directive that they not meet with Mr Brian Burke or Mr Julian Grill. (1) Was the Minister for the Environment and Heritage informed of the Premier’s directive that neither she nor her senior staff should meet with Burke or Grill? (2) Given that goodwill is clearly not working, what disciplinary action will the Premier take against the Minister for the Environment and Heritage and other ministers who clearly flout his authority and his directive? Dr G.I. GALLOP

(1)-(2) The Leader of the Opposition is trawling around in the undergrowth of Western Australian politics to try to come up with an issue. The Minister for the Environment and Heritage has answered very clearly the basis on which she made her decision and the processes that were followed in reaching that decision. I can rely on the goodwill and discretion of my ministers on this issue. There is no doubt in my mind that when it comes to the Minister for the Environment and Heritage I can rely on not only her goodwill and discretion but also her commonsense and good decision-making processes on these issues.
