MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES —
MINING AND PASTORAL REGION
439. Hon JACQUI BOYDELL to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Minister for Health:
I refer to mental health services in
the Mining and Pastoral Region.
(1) Has the minister written to the federal government
to advocate keeping or extending the temporary telehealth Medicare
rebate codes for mental health consultations beyond 30 September; and, if yes,
can the minister please table that correspondence?
(2) How many
mental health presentations have been made to the following campuses since
January 2020 and could they be broken down month by month for —
(a) Karratha Health Campus;
(b) Broome Health Campus; and
(c) Kalgoorlie Health Campus?
(3) Please
provide an update on both Kalgoorlie and Karratha step-up, step-down
facilities, including —
(a) whether a preferred site for
Karratha has been finalised and purchased;
(b) if both of these vital projects
will be fast-tracked; and
(c) the month and year both projects
are expected to be completed?

(3) (a) A
preferred site for the Karratha step-up, step-down service has been identified.
The Department of Communities is currently negotiating its purchase with the
City of Karratha.
(b) The Kalgoorlie step-up, step-down service was able
to be fast-tracked, with the original completion date being June 2022.
The Karratha service will be progressed as planned once the purchase of this
land is completed.
(c) The
Kalgoorlie service is anticipated to become operational in March 2021 and the
Karratha service is anticipated to become operational in May 2021.
