CLIMATE CHANGE MITIGATION AND ADAPTATION STRATEGY
Can the minister advise on the progress of the development of the Western Australian climate change mitigation and adaptation strategy, and when it will be released? Hon DONNA FARAGHER

I thank the honourable member for her question. Good progress is being made on the climate change mitigation and adaptation strategy. Some very good work was undertaken towards the end of last year. However, it was very much predicated on the basis that a national scheme was to be put in place. That clearly has not happened, which has therefore required a change of focus to more of a state-based strategy, recognising that there is a delay, as was discussed in this house yesterday. Good work is being done and is being guided through the Office of Climate Change, in consultation with the Department of the Premier and Cabinet and other relevant agencies. When I receive the strategy I will give consideration to it and consideration to public comment.
