In relation to the State-heritage listed former prison warders' cottages at 7–41 Henderson Street, Fremantle:
(a) what are the Government's intentions for these cottages;
(b) how long have the cottages been emptied and fenced off;
(c) will the Minister recommend use of section 112 of the new
Building Act 2011
, which came into effect in April 2012, to ensure the relevant department undertakes repairs and upkeep;
(d) what is the value of the cottages in any Government assets register;
(e) what plans have been endorsed to restore the cottages before they succumb to demolition by neglect; and
(f) what costing has been undertaken to restore the buildings?

The Department of Housing advises:
(a) It is currently planned that the cottages remain in public ownership for the time being and to be used for social and/or affordable housing.
(b) The last cottage was vacated on 14 October 2011 and the cottages fenced on 21 October 2011.
(c) No
(d) $8 507 333.32 as at 1 August 2012.
(e) The Government has a plan for the repair and return to habitable standard of the cottages that requires the formal agreement of a number of parties.  Details will be released as soon as this formal agreement has been achieved.
(f) A detailed costing is currently being undertaken but is not yet complete.
