(1) As part of the Pilbara Revitalisation Plan, the Shire of Ashburton was allocated $10 million for the revitalisation of the Tom Price town centre. I have asked LandCorp, as the State Government's land developer, to assist with the management of the project and to play a major role in delivering physical and community improvements to the town. The revitalisation is likely to deliver a residential component.
(2) The Department for Planning and Infrastructure (DPI) and the Shire of Ashburton (Shire) have identified approx 3ha of land suitable for the Shire to undertake a residential development. In addition, a further three town site lots have been identified by the DPI for release on the open market.
The DPI is arranging a regional visit to Tom Price with Rio Tinto to meet with the Shire to identify additional land suitable for residential development.
