Can the minister advise the House what has happened about the State Youth Strategy, which I understand was to have been developed following the recent youth survey? Mr BOARD

AnswerView source ↗

The State Youth Strategy is a very extensive, deliberate and consultative process. In fact, the State Youth Strategy has been going through a consultative process for some two years following groups coming together. Dr Gallop: What was the name of the song? Mr BOARD: It started with 37 youth forums throughout Western Australia in which thousands of young people participated and put forward their thoughts. There has been a steering group across 20 government agencies, including the Youth Advisory Council of Western Australia which represents a non-government body. Young people themselves, through our youth advisory councils, have been included in this strategy. Dr Gallop: Tell us the name of that song. The SPEAKER: Order, members! Mr BOARD: The youth survey Count Me In had 13 000 respondents in Western Australia. It took 40 minutes or so to reply. All of that information and consultative process has been included in the youth strategy. The youth strategy has concluded and we hope to announce in Cabinet within the next couple of weeks the State Youth Strategy for October.
