Housing—Karnup land release
1229. Hon Simon Ehrenfeld to the parliamentary
secretary representing the Minister for Planning and Lands:
I refer to
DevelopmentWA's release of over 600 hectares of land in Karnup planned for private
and social housing announced by the minister on 9 October 2024.
(1) How many expressions of interest were received
by December 2024:
(a) to purchase; and
(b) to partner?
(2) How many preferred proponents were chosen by
June 2025?
(3) Given DevelopmentWA stated it intended to
offer the entire site for staged development to commence as soon as possible,
when will the first houses be completed?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question. I provide the following on
behalf of the Minister for Planning and Lands.
(1) There were 45.
(2) Preferred proponents were not identified by
June 2025, as due diligence was carried out.
(3) DevelopmentWA and Mirvac will now progress
approvals to ensure land for housing in the earliest timeframe.
