I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1) Western Power carried out both transmission and distribution works associated with the new southern suburbs railway. Transmission works included the construction of two new 132 kilovolt/25 kilovolt substations at Glen Iris and Parklands, which is Meadow Springs, and the installation of 132 kV cables between Milligan and James Streets in the city. There were 49 individual distribution projects, including the relocation of high voltage cables, the relocation of power poles, the installation of distribution transformers and the provision of power supplies to new railway station buildings. (2) As at the end of April 2007, the total cost of work was $12.42 million, which comprises $8.75 million for transmission works and $3.85 for distribution works. (3) The cost of modifications will be paid to Western Power. In the case of transmission works, the customer is required to pay a capital contribution, which takes into account additional network revenues. The PTA paid its capital contribution of $6.48 million in full in 2005. Payments for distribution works are required in advance and have been paid by the PTA to Western Power.
