Following our recent meeting with representatives from the Atwell community, can the minister advise the current status of the proposed modifications at the intersection of Armadale and Tapper Roads? Dr HAMES

The Minister for Transport has provided the following response - As indicated to the House in May, much of the traffic flow problems at this intersection are caused by vehicles attempting to turn right into the CSR asphalt plant located on Armadale Road, approximately 100 metres west of Tapper Road. Main Roads has recently installed a right-turn lane into the asphalt plant, and this should assist in improving traffic flow and road safety in the area. Main Roads has also commenced a study to determine the feasibility, cost and time frame to extend the dual carriageway to a point east of Tapper Road, subject to funding being identified. This work is progressing well and I expect to be able to provide the member with a copy of the study by early September.
