I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1) The Department of Housing and Works proposes to develop urban infill opportunities through the redevelopment and/or upgrading of its older housing stock, as well as the acquisition and redevelopment of private land and surplus government-owned land in strategic locations. In suburbs with a public housing presence and aging stock, opportunities are sought to demolish old homes, amalgamate lots and create group housing sites, which makes more efficient use of the land and caters for current public housing needs. In larger infill sites, land is developed to yield lots for public housing integrated among lots for sale to the private market. (2) Areas to be targeted include those in which there is already a high concentration of public housing stock. In addition, the department may consider redevelopment in other areas as opportunities arise. (3) The criterion used in constructing social housing is to provide housing close to transport, shopping centres, medical centres, community facilities, schools and other infrastructure improvements. (4) Yes.
