To require each hospital in the State to determine, for 28 days, if operations were cancelled (and the nature of these operations); and where operations have been cancelled, whether the patient's operation has been cancelled or deferred previously requires the diversion of considerable resources from normal hospital services. The Minister for Health is not prepared to direct hospitals to devote valuable resources to such a request; however, if the Hon Member has a specific enquiry in relation to a cancelled operation on any of the days specified, he would be prepared to assist in answering the question.
