HESTER PARK
167. Hon
Dr BRIAN WALKER to the Leader of the House representing the Minister for
Planning:
I refer the minister to the Hester Park
regional revitalisation project encompassing an area of approximately 90 hectares
of public open space, owned by the Western Australian Planning Commission but
poorly developed.
(1) Is the minister aware of the jointly funded
community consultation undertaken by the City of Gosnells and the WAPC several
years ago to look at development options for Hester Park and the plan that was
developed as a result, which included the construction of a 206-lot
subdivision adjacent to Spencer Road?
(2) Has the Department
of Planning, Lands and Heritage corresponded with the City of Gosnells in
relation to this issue; and, if so, when did the last such correspondence
occur?
(3) Are there any
plans to support or encourage this potential development; and, if so, what
issues, if any, are hindering the government and delaying a formal agreement
between the parties concerned?
