The equipment being purchased is known as a Laparoscopic Stack. It is replacing equipment that is still functioning, but at the end of its life. The new equipment has greater capabilities than the equipment it is replacing and will support improved health service delivery at Collie Hospital.
(a) $122,505.
(b) In this case the full price of the equipment will be met from donations. From time to time WA Country Health Service (WACHS) is fortunate to receive donations to local hospitals from community members. Donations are held in a separate account for use in line with the donor's requests.
(c) The organisations making contributions had previously indicated that they had access to funding for initiatives such as the purchase of equipment for the Hospital. Supported by the donations, the purchase of the equipment will be able to occur sooner to enhance services to the Collie community.
(d) Without funding from community groups, the replacement of this equipment would be via the WACHS South West Medical Equipment Replacement Program (MERP), which is fully State funded.
