FIONA STANLEY HOSPITAL —
ASBESTOS MATERIALS
551. Mr R.H. COOK to the Minister for
Health:
I have a supplementary question.
(1) Has the
minister received any toxicity audits on Fiona Stanley Hospital, which, we
understand, also has products supplied by Yuanda Australia in its construction?
(2) Is there any
prospect of asbestos or other harmful products being incorporated into its
building products as well?

(1)–(2)
No, I have not received any reports to that effect. I am aware that the
Building Commission is undertaking an audit of quite a number of buildings that
were built by the government in recent times to ensure compliance with
Australian standards. Fiona Stanley Hospital is one building where such an
audit either is, or was, due to be undertaken, but I have not received any
reports myself.
