DISABILITY JUSTICE CENTRE — CAVERSHAM
368. Hon SAMANTHA ROWE to the Minister
for Disability Services:
I ask this question on behalf of Hon Amber-Jade Sanderson, who is out of the
chamber on urgent parliamentary business.
(1) How many
people are currently detained in the disability justice centre on Lord Street,
Caversham?
(2) Have any residents escaped from
the centre in 2016; and, if yes, how many escapes and when?
(3) Have any detainees not returned
on time from an approved absence; and, if yes —
(a) how many late returns have there
been;
(b) when did they occur; and
(c) how long were they gone?
(4) Has the fence
around the centre been modified to correct the problem identified by the New
Year's Eve 2015 escape?

(1) There are two.
(2) There have been none.
(3) (a) One resident returned late
from leave of absence.
(b) It was on 17 March 2016.
(c) It was for 22 hours.
(4) Analysis of
the security requirements, architectural design work and detailed planning for
the modification of the fence has been completed and the work is due to
commence.
