ABORIGINAL HERITAGE
LEGISLATION AMENDMENT AND REPEAL BILL 2023 — REGULATIONS
529. Mr R.S. LOVE to the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs:
I refer to Labor's complete
backflip on the Aboriginal cultural heritage laws and the new bill that was
introduced to Parliament last week.
(1) When will the supporting
regulations be provided?
(2) Will they be available for
community and industry input?
(3) Will the
minister commit to tabling them ahead of the repeal bill being considered to
ensure that the opposition and all Western Australians
are not building a view of the act with only half of the information?

AnswerView source ↗

(1)–(3) No,
I will not make that commitment, but I will make a commitment that they will be
drafted as soon as possible, and when they are available, the Leader of the
Opposition will see them. The draftspeople are working on it as we speak. They
go mainly to procedural matters and time schedules and so forth. When they are
available, I make the commitment that the Leader of the Opposition will see
them in due course. I cannot give him today an actual date of when they will be
available.
