I refer to the Gnangara Sustainability Strategy (GSS), for which public submissions closed on 31 August 2009 and the Analysis of Public Submissions that was made available in November 2009. The answer to my question without notice No. 451 confirmed that the Gnangara Coordinating Committee has received a final version of the GSS with costings, etc. The answer to my question without notice No. 464 stated that the Gnangara Sustainability Strategy was still subject to considerable public consultation and implied that the document has not yet been finalised, and I ask -
(1) Can the Minister please reconcile these conflicting answers?
(2) When did the Minister, or the previous Minister, receive a copy of the final version of the GSS?
(3) If the Minister has not received a final copy of the GSS, can he explain why the process is taking so long?

1) The Gnangara Coordinating Committee has received a final draft of the Gnangara Sustainability Strategy (GSS). The Strategy has since been considered by the State Government's Land Availability Working Group and further consultation has been taking place regarding some of the recommendations.
(2) I have not yet received the final version of the GSS.
(3) The GSS will be a significant project for Western Australia. Consultation across Government agencies will ensure that the best possible outcome is achieved to not only assist in the long term sustainable management of the Gnangara groundwater system but will play a vital role in future water supply planning for the environment, social and economic development of the Perth region.
