I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1) In 2001 the government approved the Machinery of Government Taskforce report chaired by Mr Stuart Hicks that recommended the transfer of the management of Araluen Botanic Park from the Western Austrian Planning Commission to the Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority. (2)-(3) The foundation has been advised that the government proposes to transfer the ownership and management of the park to the Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority as it agrees with the Machinery of Government Taskforce that this is the government agency best able to take responsibility for the park.
