Prisons—Population
1077. Hon Dr Brad Pettitt to the minister representing
the Minister for Corrective Services:
I refer to last week's
article in WAtoday titled "WA's
booming prison population unsustainable and dangerous, watchdog warns" and
the Western Australian custodial estate on Monday 10 November and Monday 17 November
respectively broken down by facility.
(1) How many people were sleeping on a mattress on
the floor?
(2) How many people were accommodated by another
form of alternative sleeping arrangement and what type of arrangement was used?
(3) For each person in (1), how many of those were
in a cell where another person was also sleeping on a mattress on the floor?
